Moon
Co-produced by Carolyn Carlson - Artistic Director of Centre Chorégraphique National Roubaix Nord-Pas de Calais as part of the 'Red Bricks Project'.
A creation for 6 dancers
Choreography: Sagi Gross
Dramaturg: Jeroen Fransen
With 'Moon' Sagi Gross have decided to continue a creative process that started in April 2012, in a LAB project that he did with English National Ballet dancers at DanceEast Jerwood in Ipswich, UK. With the piece he wanted to explore and deepen his physical language and articulation. 'Moon' was a very intensive piece to create. Sagi’s mother was going through chemotherapy in Israel and they had intensive contact by skype. After creating the piece he figured out that the strong emotional state he was in was very crucial. In his unconsciousness he created a piece about the negative journey that his mother was going through while dealing with cancer.
'Moon' received wonderful reviews from the French newspapers:
''Sagi Gross illustrates a constrained freedom, close to a collective equilibrium. However, the individual is doomed to stay alone. Without a doubt, it is the most accomplished piece, a masterful synthesis of an existential reflection'' (by Brigitte Lemery, La Voix du Nord, October 2012 France)
